Schools & Childcare
Halifax County in Southern Virginia is family-focused. We appreciate value of productive work, but we also know that we work to provide our children with what they need to grow up happy, healthy and ready to become the next generation of productive adults.
Our region offers numerous public and private educational pathways from preschool through technical training and university. Our education and training organizations pride themselves in learning what works best for you and your child now and going forward. There are also various before-school and after-school care programs that incorporate fun and learning in safe and nurturing environments.
If our children’s education time is their “work,” then they, like us, need their off time to be fun, healthy and enriching. Our region offers numerous school-based and community-based programs in sports and recreation, performing arts and music, and academics and applied learning like robotics. In fact, Halifax County High School earned its way to the Robotics World Championship in 2018. We also have a long history of recreation-league World Series championships in baseball and softball. We are currently working on a plan to build out a new sports complex to accommodate our growing soccer programs.
